1984 was my first trip to Reno, for a convention that happened to be at the MGM, it was a wonderful little city. Walked all over downtown. All those casinos. In 1990 it was still very nice, and I stayed at the Eldorado. Horseshoe was still open. Many interesting casinos and no lack of places to visit.

Last trip, 2004?, we stayed at the Atlantis with all the restaurants, great place by itself, and made a couple of trips downtown. Very sad. Talk about turning casinos into parking lots, T-shirt shops, check cashing and cigarette stores. All the old charm was gone.

Fortunately Silver City and Lake Tahoe were still very attractive destinations.
