An Old Subject Revisited

NO it's not about slabbing rofl

I know this was addressed before but I don't really recall the outcome, that is if there actually was one.
We have all discussed the misuse of the term rare and probably will continue to discuss it for the next 50 years

My question however is was it ever established what obsolete meant in regards to chipping.

As most of you know, aside from the rather recent debacle regarding the Playboy chips found at a dig, there really is no such thing as an obsolete A/C chip as the can all be redeemed.

On the other hand you have chips that are termed obsolete simply because the redemption has expired or becasue a new rack has been issued.

There seems to be a bit of a contradiction here so is there an answer?
