I'm sure there is a possibility of dying in a crash regardless of which vehicle you were in.
I suppose it depends on a number of factors
I also think that one could make an equally good argument for either side. I doubt that either of us would want to try to prove the other wrong.
I personally feel a bit more comfortable being sorrounded by 2 tons of steel.
One of the things that I have always looked at is how many of these newer vehicles fare in the 5mph crash test and the expense of repairs that it can cause...literally, its pretty scary

On a bit of a side note. My friend purchased an old 1938 Dodge Sedan several years ago that required some body work.
I remember the guy in the body shop having to use a 3lb. sledge hammer to knock out a dent in the front fender.
In this age, you can almost push out a dent with your thumb.

BTW, I did a bit of research and was surprised to find that a 2009 Camry actually weighs in at 4275lbs.
Well, that blows holes in that argument LOL oh well
