My take on Las Vegas downturn recently
In Response To: Please delete that post! ()

Years ago we went to Vegas 5-6 times a year, it was the only big time gaming in the US. Now day's hundreds of casino's are all over the US. My local casino Pechanga is a very large casino, 3,000 parking spaces, often 90% full. they have great eateries, great show's with big name performers, a great golf course, rooms are 5 star, and lots of gaming, with a large 50 table poker room. On weekends it is jamed, with players, a high roller room for slots and table games, a lot of permotions, yesterday $35,000.00 give away in poker room, $100,000.00 give away for table and slot players in Dec. So, most these tens of thousands of people every month, in years past would be going to Vegas. This is just one casino, so the total US volume has to have an effect on fewer Vegas customers, in good times and bad times. Now, I'm not saying the local casino's, can come close to match the Vegas experience, but for gaming dollars, it is so easy to go local, rather than an expensive trip to Vegas. Now race tracks are adding slots and poker, and as states are hurting for funds, adding gaming is becoming a good tax sorce, even for thos states against gaming in the past. Therefore, more growth outside Nv. in the future. We all love going to Vegas, but, less often.
