Illegal Of The Day Kentucky 7

I decided to try and get a little more info on some of my KY chips.

From my friend of the hobby:

“I wish the online newspaper databases had better coverage of Kentucky, but here’s what I found.”

No big revelations on RV chips but he found a big story on the FAG hub from Louisville.

I need to digest the info as it might be changing to Jeffersonville, IN and the first time I have ever seen documentation on the counterfeiting of chips for an Illegal. Plus murder across state lines and guess who? Our old friends the very violent Shelton gang from Illinois will be featured once again with the FAG story.

More on that one in a later post.

Enough of that:

Kentucky:

Owensboro, KY

Owensboro:

RV hub:

William F. Rowland, a life-long resident of Daviess County, died at Owensboro in 1972, age 64.

Rowland was the proprietor of Club Rio Vista, also known as Rio Vista Inn, from as early as the mid 1930’s through the late 1950’s. The RV was a restaurant and night club located just north of the Owensboro city limits (its next door neighbor was the Glendale Distilleries). Situated off of Highway 60, where Barton Avenue terminates at the Ohio River, the Rio Vista got its name from its river view.

The property is currently up for sale: http://www.2115bartonave.com/Print.aspx

Don’t know if any of the buildings from the old club are still there; the seller actually says that the property would be a good place for a river view restaurant (maybe he knew the Club Rio Vista owner).
