Records of Illegals!

I am amazed at the records you have been able to acquire. I would think that the chip-making records, like most of the other covert activities surrounding the operation of the gambling clubs, would also be kept under special lock-and-key.

I really enjoy the information you share and feel I must have had relatives who were regulars in these clubs. My father was born in Alabama, and raised in Louisiana. He was quite a "scoundrel" and never saw a crap game he didn't like! When I was a young boy, on one particular trip to Northern California around 1950, he posted my brother (probably age 11) and me (around age 8) on the porch next door to a bar to whistle if any cops were around. He then went into the bar and shot craps. He came out with a grin so we guessed that the dice had gone his way!

He came from a rough lineage of bad boys so I'm guessing his youth was misspent! vbg And, as drinking and gambling went together, I'm certain he was a patron and an illegal club or two in his day! vbg

Gene, thanks again for sharing the information!!!
