The coin is the error - not the chip

But aren't the "coin" centers a single solid piece? The coin in the chip he's selling has a $1 stamp on one side and a $5 stamp on the other, so he didn't just pop out a $5 coin and stick it in the plastic ring of a $1 chip. If the coin insert is 2 pieces then I can see how it's done. Even if it was a single solid coin and the guy sliced it in half the buyer would see and hear that the chip was altered.

Please elaborate on how this trickery is done Gene. I'd hate to think you called the buyer a fool before looking at the actual auction. Thanks.
