My verandah is located in back of my house. By definition, a verandah is a roofed platform along the outside of a house, level with its ground floor.

My piazza, or porch, is in the front of my house.

Mike Poole, more than likely has a deck, rather than a terrace. His hound? If you haven't noticed, his posts are usually from the Dog House, so I'd say his hound dog lives quite well.
