My Casino Dominucus story
In Response To: Interesting dates... ()

I have another TITO that has the correct date that I was there. Apparently the "clock" on the one machine was not correctly calibrated.

Here's a story about the casino. It was located about 45 minutes from our resort "Casa de Campo". I was told the casino "opens" at 6pm, but I have fallen for that Caribbean casino ploy before. (Oftens means they turn on the slots at 6pm, but the tables open much later.) I asked at the front desk of our resort and was told that tables open at 9pm. I figured I would get there after 10pm, so there wouldn't be a problem. I got there after 10pm with my wife, her sister her husband. Place is empty. One roulette table and one BJ table open. Decide to start with the TITOs. No one else playing, though a waitress/slot assistant hanging around. Get my slot balance down to 5¢ and hit the "cash out" button. The slot assistant comes running up to me (she cannot speak English) shakes her head violently ("no,no"), grabs my hand and tries to have me put the TITO back in the machine. I shake my head violently ("no,no") and finally break free and head to the bar in the casino where my family is waiting (and laughing).

Place is getting a little more crowded. Roulette table is still pretty empty. I don't collect roulettes, but I know others do, so I went to harvest some. Got $20 worth of roulettes, spread $15 across the board and pocketed $5. I didn't hit anything, and walked away with my five roulettes. I got about ten feet from the table when a woman working the roulette table started yelling "CINCO!! CINCO!!" and pointing at me. The pit boss comes up to me asking me what I am doing. I explain I am collecting them as souveniers, and almost had him convinced until the slot assistant comes up as well, yelling "SI, CINCO" and pointing at me. (I guess she was still mad at the 5¢ slot TITO fiasco.) The pit boss made me turn back the roulettes.

Place is even more crowded now. A few BJ tables are open. Went from table to table, got some chips and dumped then in my wife's purse, just in case. Finally it's about 1am, and time to go. The place is finally jumping. Roulette tables crowded. The first pit boss must be on break. The cab is in front. I tell my wife to get in the cab. Get $20 in roulette chips. Spread $10 around the table - wait to see if I hit anything - nope. Run to the cab - done.
