Re: Probably the rarest below the $100 --

Yes, staff kept what was returned in the vault. I and two others obtained the few chips that were turned in, but I missed on the $2.50 chips... then management hooked me up with those who had chips, who were unwilling to retun to the second boat to redeem. I ran ads up the Florida coast askng for the chips, but very few (maybe 30 in all) responded. I paid twice face for every chip I bought from those who responded to my ad. The $2.50s were selling for $400 each... The only way I was able to fill orders in the UK was to buy full retail... Otherwise, I do not remember walking off the boat w/ any $2.50's... I was on the original boat only once; thinking I could always return if I needed extra chips. About 50% of what I fetched on my visit was sent out as trades/gifts... Both Bob Ginsburg and I had trades pending with other chippers when the ship went down. We both fulfilled those trades... grin

The $500 chip was obtained under my instructions to Gene Grossblatt who had just returned home from a hospital visit. He called me saying he was going crazy at home w/o any chip action... I said: "Here, Gene; do this..." In three days he had the chip in his hands. I would have (...and did) do anything for Gene Grossblatt; the nicest man I ever met in out hobby... That $500 chip never saw the Club Royale; it came right from the distributor... The only one they claimed they had. The manufacturer also sent me original artwork that I later passed on (seen in the article).
