Not sure you will be able to accomplish the gold foil without hotstamping. Typical HS dies run around $100
There is a guy (Jason) over at ChipTalk that is doing some fantastic work with lasering chips. I think it runs .15 - .18 cents plus the cost of the chip.
Below is a link to a thread that show alot of his work. Also, here is a picture of some chips he made for me. I gave these to a good friend as a house warming gift. They are cheap faux clay chips (.05-.08/ea) so I had around .20 per chip.
I have been debating over a personal chip and this is definitely the way I would go using ASM no-mold blanks (just need to come up with a cool design).
