Likely not Cheyenne, WY

Tim sent me scans of this chip last December, and I told him at that time that I was unable to identify it conclusively. The known Frontier Nights chips are crest & seal (see the scan below from Rich Hanover's site), and do not have numbers on the reverses. This one's a hub mold, with center inlays, numbers on the reverse, and edge inserts. It seems to me that the numbers might well be a date.

Cheyenne Frontier Days rodeo began in 1896, and I attended this year's 113th anniversary event. It's the largest outdoor rodeo in the country, and it was a heckuva show! Assuming the numbers on this chip are a date, Frontier Days was certainly being held in 1912, but also certainly not in February or March (if you read the date in the European manner: day/month/year). It seems that at one time, there was gambling of some sort (Frontier Nights) associated with the Frontier Days rodeo, but I have not been able to find out when it began or ended.

There are other chips with bronc riders on them, so Cheyenne doesn't have a lock on that particular graphic represenation. So far as I'm concerned, this is still a UFC (Unidentified Flying Chip), but it sure is neat, and I wouldn't mind having one!
