Greg has a very good picture of the two -- shows the differences very well. (I refer to it on my page, too):

"In the picture above, the top chip is the LCV (long cane version) and the bottom chip is the SCV (short cane version). If you look at the area on the left side of each hat and compare the difference between where the cane exits the hat and where the brim starts, you see that there is much more space on the LCV than there is on the SCV. There are other differences as well. The cane is longer on the LCV than on the SCV. The cane clearly extends below the brim of the hat on SCV but doesn't on the LCV."
