Jerry, I don't have the total answer but part of it lies in a thread to which I posted sometime ago along with John Zoesch.
While I have no particular love for unions, I can also understand the necessity of having them.
Unfortunate as it is, that necessity changed to be more of a weapon.
What other industry do you know of where you would receive 95% of your salary when you weren't working.
The stipulations in their work rules are a huge part of the problem. How can you possibly compete in an industry where you have to pay your workers for doing nothing.

What I will say is, pouring money into a bottomless pit is NOT the answer.

There is no question that the Auto industry in this country is in trouble but I also wonder how Ford is managing to get by without going to the well.

Another question I might ask is who in congress is going to monitor where the money goes? Where did the money they already received go?

We pretty much gave the banks carte blanche yet at this stage they have yet to do anything concrete with it except take vacations.

Our President said that that he inherited a trillion dollar defecit but as I said in an earlier thread, he has managed to more than double that in less than 30 days.
We the taxpayers will be paying for this in years to come through inflation and through a dollar whose value will continue to plumet
