I don't know the whole story (and someone please correct me if I am wrong), but I believe the Aladdin ran low on money at some point during construction, and so partnered with The London Club to run their high-rollers area. In any case, one of the results of this partnership was the following:

Notice the middle insert of each set of 3 is done out of the same color of clay-- it's easy to miss at first, but the bottom right set of 3 it is more noticeable.

The London Club was also unique in that it had one of two (that I know of) $1 Baccarat chips issued in Las Vegas (Palms being the other one). Of course, it is also famous for the $10,000,000 plaque as the largest denomination issued.

I remember getting this chip well-- I was on the Chip Board, and saw a post where someone wanted to sell the London Club $20 and $5 chips for face value. Turns out they were also in Utah, so we arranged to meet during lunch in a Home Depot parking lot. I remember feeling like I was heading to drop classified information for my CIA handlers .

Anyway, we had a chance to meet and visit briefly, and then I headed back to work thinking over and over to myself, "Holy Cow! I just spent $20 on a chip! I can't believe it!" (Yes, this was much earlier in my collecting days ). In any case, the Home Depot is right off the freeway that goes through the middle of Salt Lake City; I can't drive by today without thinking of the first $20 chip that I collected, which is still one of my favourites.
