NCR, BankNote of the Day.....

This is a 'Food Stamp' used to buy $1 in food and foodstuffs. The food coupons are governed by The U.S. Dept. of Agriculture. It is a form of exchange; therefore I used it in my collection. ENJOY!!

This is a 1988 issue of a $1 dollar food coupon printed by the Department of Agriculture. At the current rate of our economy we may all be using these soon!

(Front) Signing of Declaration of Independence at l. Liberty Bell at ctr. (Note) It is illegal exchange for anything other than foodstuff. It has been replaced by the 'Lone Star' card and is no longer used. (Back) Blank

I called the Department of Agriculture, explained who I was and why I wanted a single Food Coupon. I said I would be happy to pay for one or except one that had been cancelled for my collection and I had no intention of using, selling or transferring it. After explaining that to 27 different people who said it was not their department but would be happy to transfer me. Finally I got the old grouch, who explained the law to me and that there was basically no way in hell I was going to get one without qualifying. So much for the honest and legal way…. I went to the corner store on the way to work one day, saw this one in the resister, asked to buy it for a dollar and here we are! Why is the legal way always the hard way?
