$20 Chip of the Day, first post (long). grin

I figured it was high time I started contributing around here, so here is my attempt: the $20 chip of the day! Why do I like and collect $20 chips? Well, I'm glad you asked. vbg

1. $20, being a somewhat unique denomination, limits my collecting universe to the extent that I could (at least in theory) get one from every casino in Nevada (my primary collecting interest) that issued them without needing a warehouse for storage or display (since I generally limit my collection to what I can display on the walls of my game room).

2. $20 is a denomination frequently associated with Baccarat, at least when you could find a table that would take a bet that small. Baccarat makes me feel like the suave and sophisticated James Bond of yesteryear. vbg

3. $20 is a denomination now more frequently associated with Poker, which makes me feel like the Kick-your-A$$, rough-and-tumble James Bond of today. vbg

4. Not a lot of people collect $20 chips, which makes me feel unique and quirky (although I have high hopes of one day being rich enough to be considered eccentric).

5. The incredulous stares I get when I tell people that some of the chips are live, and they wonder aloud, "Why would anyone pay $20 for that?". I don't tell them what I spend for the chips that aren't live...

Anyway, without further ado, the chip for today:

The Aladdin is one of the few casinos from which I have one of each of the $20 chips that were issued (if the casino issued more than one). So if you don't like the Aladdin, you can skip the next 3 days as well grin. I generally have them displayed alphabetically by casino, Las Vegas first, then the rest of Nevada, a few Atlantic City, then a few miscellaneous ones that caught my eye. So for no other sake than convenience, that is how I will present them here for the next couple of months.

As a side benefit (to me) of this endeavor, I will finally be able to make scans of my entire collection, which is something I have needed to do for too long now anyway.

Thanks for letting me share. grin

P.S. If you have any $20 chips that you think need to find a good home, I am always in the market for ones I don't have (which is usually small-town Nevada at this point). I'm always in the market; let's talk! vbg
