In 2002 Steve Passalacqua organized a slot card auction for the benefit of the then Building Fund.
In 2003, after speaking with Steve Passalacqua and with his blessing, I continued his efforts. Generous club members sent over 1,800 slot cards to be auctioned for the benefit of the Building Fund. With a generous 100% match granted by the BOD that auction realized $850.
That same year Luke Rapley organized a similar auction that included chips donated by club members.
To my knowledge, those auctions were not continued in subsequent years.
I'm seriously considering doing this again. As I now live in Las Vegas it will be slightly easier to get those chips and cards delivered to the conventiion location.
Luke & Steve, if you weren't planning to do this again, please let me know and I'll get the ball rolling. If you were planning to organize these auction in 2009 please also let me know because I don't want to step on any toes.
David S. please let me know if it would even be possible to include these lots in the auction. If not, maybe we could do a raffle similar to Neal's Roulette Raffle. BTW, Neal, are you again doing the Roulette Thing? If not, that's another possibility on my end.
This is all VERY preliminary, but I'd like input from Steve, Luke, David and Neal as well as anyone else with any information/concerns about these projects.
