what a bunch of hogwash

I don't think any of you are versed enough in my generation to put a label on us or to write about our likes and dislikes.

Now let's take this hobby for instance and YOUR generation. How many of your generation do you think actually collect casino chips. How many are members of the CCGTCC? MAYBE 1 percent. Maybe. That's not a lot in my book.

Now when did you actually start collecting chips? in your 20's or 30's? I seriously doubt it, because of the $$$ it takes to do it. If you did, it wasn't for the big ticket items. Some of those may have become big ticket items, but only after time.

My generation collects things, but things that they can afford on their incomes. In fact, I know quite a few people my age that collect casino chips, but again, can't afford the big ticket items, because diapers, mortgages, and other necessities take priority. As for children, I collected (as did all my friends) Comic books, cards, rocks, marbles, star wars figures, etc. Most of which, we still have.

I will concede that most of my generation isn't interested in old things, because it's the mentality of the age. We want new and shiny. The desire to know history and have interest in it comes with age.

This is an old man's hobby. As it probably always will be. Poker has rejuvenated casinos and chips, so in time, when all those people that played get older, get bored at home, and have more disposable income they'll start collecting nostalgic items from their youth...chips being one of them.
