Cleaning coins is a cardinal sin in the numismatic world. I realize that these are tokens and perhaps not subject to those standards, but the toning can actually be construed as adding beauty to the surface. Cleaning can potentially leave surface abrasions or alter the appearance of the metal. I would suggest just leaving them alone.
