Carriers have much more sophisticated programs now

There used to be much advance overselling of seats with only limited history as a guide as to how many customers will not show up. The new programs allow for dynamic changes in seat prices to help sell out a flight. This reduces the need to overbook and then ask for "volunteers". I haven't been bumped with compensation in several years either.

Starting this month, there are many reductions in airline service to Las Vegas. If the air carriers got it wrong, there many be some opportunities to game the system again. Superbowl Weekend could be one of those chances.
