NCR, BankNote of the Day.....

The Straits Settlements were a collection of territories of the British East India Company in Southeast Asia, which were given collective administration in 1826 as a crown colony, as distinct from the native princely states, some of which later formed the Federated Malay States. Initially, the Straits Settlements consisting of Malacca, Penang, Singapore, Labaun (Borneo), Cocos and Christmas Islands sometimes officially named Prince of Wales Island. ENJOY!!

The note is a 1917 issue 10 Cent note printed by Survey Department Federated Malay States. This note has seen a hard life in its 92 years!

(Front) Arms in upper center. Text in English, with Notations near borders in Chinese and Burmese. (Back) Date in red seal at center.
