NCR, BankNote of the Day.....

Tonight's note comes from The Soviet Union. It was 1961 when Russia launched the first cosmonaut into space marking the beginning of the manned space race. This note comes from that era, a 1961 issue 50 Ruble. The Union of Soviet Socialast Republics occupies the northern part of Asia and eastern half of Europe.

Languages: Russia
Religions: Russian Orthodox, Muslim, Buddhist
Status: UN Country

The front of the note features John Lenin grin at left. The back has views of Kremlin. The note has no UV markings, Security Thread, but does have a watermark of stars.

Ruble: Russian- Pубль - Rubl "silver bar" from the Russian verb "Rubit"- "to cut up" The ruble has been the Russian unit of currency for about 500 years. The Soviet ruble of 1961 was formally equal to 0.987412 gram of gold, but the exchange for gold was never available to the general public. Following the breakup of the Soviet Union in 1991, the ruble remained the currency of the Russian Federation. ENJOY!!
