The counterfeit brass-core chips at Harrahs Reno/Tahoe were so good the they came to light only when the casino found in the 90's it had more hundred dollar chips than it started with. It was nearly impossible to tell the difference, and one security consultant commented that the workmanship was better on the counterfeits.

Of course, what we don't know is how many clubs have detected countefeits, replaced the chips with backups or new orders, and kept quiet about it. Avoiding negative publicity for the club and not encouraging copycats is worth quite a bit.

It's been my experience that black hundreds are now such a common item that not much attention is paid when they are played or cashed. Thousands definitely get some scrutiny.
