It's a union rule Charlie. The USPS is paying people to put those stamps on the envelopes while making you stand in line for them to do it. ....and you will never see a USPS counter employee hurry. Doesn't matter how long the line of folks waiting for service might be. One employee working fast will make the rest of them look bad, and that can't happen! That is the reason I use UPS for almost all of my shipping. They are union too, but they aren't a federal government union. The UPS folks know that they have to work in a manner that will turn a profit for their company.
