Re: Other Great Comedians
In Response To: Other Great Comedians ()

Obviously, I didn't mention everyone and with the exception of Jackie Gleason who I never thought of as a one man stand up act, just part of the Honeymooners team, I tried to keep it to comedy teams.

While you are at listing comedians, you can't forget the likes of Shelly Berman, Myron Cohen, Lenny Bruce, Bob Newhart, Rodney Dangerfield and with a bit of thought, I could probably come up with another handful of borscht belt comedians. Of course people that kind of fell to the second tier like Soupy Sales et al were also funny but never really made it to the top

I worked on Long Island for many years and my employer who lived in Old Westbury close to Alan King was very good personal friends with him. Whenever he would have a party he would always invite Alan over. However being that I was just a low level employee in the scope of things, I never got invited.
Alan King was a favorite of my wife's. He pretty much made fun of eveyday life and never depended on a fould mouth to make his audience laugh.
Me, personally never cared for him all that much either but different strokes for different folks I guess.
