Gary Benson was up to 200 tables...

...the last time I heard. For those who do not know, I think Bob does, back in 1981 we helped run the World Series of Tavern Pool here in Las Vegas at Caesars Palace. 80 tables which were the most in one place back then. Then it was at the MGM the next year. Gary had the idea to buy Valley tables & a couple of semi trucks to go around the country running pool tournaments. Then he ended up with the contracts for the BCA & Valley National Pool leagues for their tournaments at the Riviera every Summer. Started with 100 tables & players putting in 75 cents a games 24 hours a day for 5 weeks straight, year after year. Slowly growing to 200 tables & $1.50 a game. Made him a multi-multi millionaire.

There has always been good money to be made here in Las Vegas on both ends of the pool world. Playing or running a business related to pool. Not sure how it is these days, as I have long retired from that life. grin

Does Scott still owe you that $300, Bob? I see him on TV every once in a while. The last time I saw him in person though was when Efren & I played partners in a charity pool tournament on the top of the Riv. Efren missing a bank shot he would never miss & we lose the match. I think he did it on purpose so that he could hit the craps table. rofl Most of what he won in pool, which was hundreds of thousands, always seemed to make it's way to a craps tables. sad Andy - Las Vegas
