I remember that, Jim! Al was our gracious host if I remember right. I'm on the way to work or I'd scan and post the $5 Fred Steiner (Freddies) LE and players card from that event.

Al's book Roots of Reno continues to be a great read and a valuable reference to Reno history. The two home-grown gangsters, the paranoid banker and the prosaic Mr. Fix-It businessman who were the "Big Four" in Reno gaming offer many "Aha" moments in the book. Lake Tahoe plays a big part also with CalNeva Lodge, Stateline Country Club and The Main Entrance featured so far. Browsing the index shows many more tantalizing subjects left to be covered. Hey Al, have you thought about reprinting the index on the Roots of Reno webpage? would certainly help folks decide that they need this book! vbg
