With matches that new, they aren't rare to find with the matches still in them, so removing the matches doesn't affect the value much. However don't CUT the matches off. Instead, remove the staple and remove the matches, leaving the full cover intact. It takes a little longer, but most collectors aren't interested in bobtailed matchcovers unless they're otherwise difficult to find.
