Just my opinion. I agree with John that the board should not be restricted fro the passer by but there are many boards that only require access to post. That way passers by could read all they want and could post easily with 'identification' of some kind. I am glad to have the board regardless and I understand having a public forum has its pitfalls and anonymous posts are one of them.
