I've been wanting ...

to get this off my chest for some time. I've ranted to my friends long enough. My daughter is in her 3rd year of college. By the end of her 4th year, she will have 2 Bachelor degrees, then go for her Masters. Currently her GPA is between 3.8 and 3.9 (2 B's, the rest A's). This semester she is taking 21 hours. We are paying the full load. So far, so good. We don't qualify for any financial aid or grants. No problem. But, because she doesn't qualify under FAVSA, she can't even be granted a merit scholarship, even though she has better credentials than 90% of those who do receive merit scholarships. While, that is enough to completely p!ss me off, here's the kicker. She applied for a job on campus in her field of study (10-14 hours a week). When she went for the interview, they told her that they couldn't hire her because she didn't qualify under FAVSA. I would bet that the majority of foreign students are getting a complete free ride. No all, but a large portion. All the talk about fairness and equality is complete bullsh!t. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. Thanks for listening.
