Using the consumer price index calculator http://www.bls.gov/data/inflation_calculator.htm gas would have to hit $2.10 to equal 2001 prices. Last night I noticed $2.11.9... at the low in my area, it can be as much as 10 cents cheaper across the river in Iowa.
