be passed here in California...oh, yeah, XX% goes directly to the schools -- AND IT DID!!! Unfortunately, our fine legislators found a way around actually INCREASING the amount of money that truly went to the schools: whatever amount the legislators ANTICIPATED going to the schools via the Lottery $$$, well, they just cut that same amount out of the education budget. Of course after the first couple of years, the Lottery amount that was to go to the schools never reached the amount that was anticipated, so the education budget was actually worse off.
