It's unfortunate

It is really unfortunate what this upcoming election has come down to.
It's a popularity contest, It's a contest of race, gender, religeous ideals and everything but politics.

I will be voting for McCain not becasue he is white, were someone like Colin Powell running, I could vote for him in a heartbeat but becasue I think he is the better candidate.

I wonder how many of the voters, especially the new ones even have a clue about any of the issues at hand.

Sure it's easy to listen to campaign promises, sure it's easy to watch the so called debates which to me are only excercises in how well each candidate did their homework the night before.

Yes it's easy to pick the candidate who is the more elequent speaker or has the best stage presence, pick the candidate who is the prettiest, or the one who promises a chicken in every pot.

YES, I will be voting for McCain but part of me wants to see Obama win if for nothing else than to demonstrate that nothing will change anytime soon.
Gas prices will once again go up, The economy will have a long way to go before it recovers, The war will continue and even if a small fraction of the things the Democrats propose we will have a tax hike.
