While on the subject of HURRICANES-Here in '28 ncr

... a huge hurricane came on shore in Palm Beach County and traveled west to Lake Okeechobee where the lake flooded on the south bank killing thousands of people, most Black migrant cane cutters both living in the area and visiting from the Caribbean. Though the number of deaths has been estimated up to 3,000 counted bodies, hundreds of additional remains have been found on private property during the years in shocking containment quarters without ever adjusting the total numbers. Mass burial sites were set up in both Martin County and in West Palm Beach's poorest Black community where recorded numbers in a small mass grave site are approx 700 African Americans. The mass gravesite remained in disrepair for well over 60 years unnoticed by passers-by.

Yes, we have not come a long way.
