Re: You're welcome grin
In Response To: Thanks for the info ()

There's two sources that are commonly used for dates of operation...and both are hard to find, these days.

The complete name of the first book is "Harvey Fuller's Index of Nevada Gambling Establishments", and it was copyrighted in 1992. Club historian Harvey Fuller spent years researching Nevada gambling history, including combing through gaming commission records to get license issue dates. His most 'famous' notes were made on the backs of casino keno tickets grin ! Howard Herz deciphered Harvey's keno notes and published the information. Fuller shows that Buckley's was open from 11-12-1954 through 3-18-1960 with slots only.

A fire in 1960 destroyed many of the gaming commissions records for casinos that operated from 1948-1955. Fuller searched city & county records and newspaper archives for information.

The second book is "The Gaming Table", which was written by Allan Myers, Michael Knapp and Ernest Wheelden. The most recent edition was published in March, 2002. It lists the names, addresses, operating dates and owners of every legal and illegal casino known. In some cases it also lists a chip mold, a casino's previous name, what the casino's next name would be, and other tid-bits of information. TGT lists operating dates of 1952-1960 for Buckley's.

Both guides are invaluable! grin
