This is why I always to tell people
In Response To: Why You Should Not Clean Paper Inlay Chips mad ()

to never brush the center inlay or hot stamp. Always keep a thumb firmly over it while brushing the mold area only.

So sorry this happened to you, but at least you've learned a very valuable lesson here, the hard way sad .
