New Card Room for Sacramento - maybe...

There was a piece in today's Sacramento Bee about a new card room being proposed for this area.

The new card room, if approved by the state's Gambling Control Commission, will replace Duffy's Cardroom and be called the Sacramento Grand Casino. The card room might open as soon as late June at 2052 Auburn Blvd. in Sacramento, said James L. Kouretas, the attorney who is a partner in the card room corporation.

It also mentions that Duffy's burned down in 2004 so I guess it can be marked as closed in the guide books.

Another interesting tidbit in the same piece mentions the increase in betting limits:

Sacramento's City Council approved an ordinance late in 2006 that allows card rooms to boost the betting limit from $49 to $1,000. The law also allows the card rooms to increase the table limit from eight to nine.
