Re: NCR-My trip to Anahiem last week NAMM Show 200

I sent my dad to the NAMM show about 15 years ago when McKenzie, a British musical instrument speaker manufacturer, lost their sole stateside importer to see if we could take that position. The McKenzie folks weren't reasonable on too many points to pick up their line as an importer and distributer. They insisted that the product cost would be based on the exchange rate between the dollar and the pound at the time of shipping, not at the time an order was placed, even when there could be a lag time between ordering and shipping of three months. They also gave my dad an importer/distributor price list that had no quantity discounting - order one $100 speaker or $40,000 worth, and the pricing was the same. Too bad. Their stuff is/was good - they lost a potentially large market here. Their stuff was equal to or better than Celestion, and better than most stuff that carried/carries a Fender brand.

A comment on the Pearl drum display photo. I played a Gretsch double-bass for about 20 years. I would hope that the Pearl display is as much stuff as they could put into a small display space (a triple-bass?), not a playable kit. Otherwise, there's too much sh!t to hit, even if the player was an octopus! grin
