Collection of 100 Peso Chips from Philippines *R

Up for auction today is a collection of 'limited edition' commemorative gaming tokens from the opening of the Mimosa Resort Casino, Angeles City, Philippines in 1996.

This is a totally unique opportunity to aquire a set of chips that were specially commissioned to mark the opening of the Mimosa Casino on the former Clark US air base, Angeles City, Pampanga, Philippines. I guarantee you will not find another set of these chips anywhere on eBay, as far as I am aware you will not come across another set of these chips anywhere ever!

The Mimosa casino was the brainchild of a Filipino businessman whose dream was to create the 'Las Vegas' of Asia, due to government interference he eventually failed in his quest but he did create what was at the time the biggest and best casino in the Asian region. The interior of the casino was designed by the famous US designer Paul Steelman, who was responsible for the design of many Las Vegas casinos, the 'Stratosphere' being one example.

The casino was split into many different theme rooms or 'studios' with a central theme of 'Hollywood' and 'Las Vegas':

Studio 1: Music City (slots)
Studio 2: You're in the Movies (Hollywood theme main floor)
Studio 3: In Search of Gold (Raiders of the Lost Ark theme gaming room)
Studio 4: Casino Royale (James Bond theme VIP room)
Studio 5: Starlight Casino (Space theme slots)
Studio 6: Lights, Camera, Action! Cafe
Studio 7: Viva Las Vegas cabaret room
Studio 8: Beach Club Retail (merchandise)

Although this casino has been superseded by the growth of Macau casinos its importance and groundbreaking qualities make these chips highly collectible. There are 9 chips in this collection each with the theme of a different studio and one generic chip. These chips are all in extremely fine condition, the scanned photos make them look more worn than they actually are, in fact the condition is near perfect though they have been used in actual play which only increases their provenance and value.
