My thoughts are near worthless on the subject but I thought that the Indian was a seminole. Aren't the seminoles a Florida tribe (I know the football team is). So I agree, strictly a guess, that Florida is a possibility.

There must be some kind of Florida historical something or other that would have a record that would help.

I guess if anyone one know it would be Mark L.

The cigar band was copied from the "Up-in-Smoke" cigar band internet museum. The author of the website identifies the band as from 1890s to 1920s, which jives with the dates I would attribute to the chips (prior to 1911)
