Blue caps are not quite the same as red caps. Typically with silver strikes, a blue cap denotes a higher value strike. A regular strike has a face value of $10, while a blue cap is typically a $40 face value strike. Blue caps were obtained by playing a $1 machine as opposed to a .25 machine. Some of the newer .25 machines had both regular and blue caps in the same machine with a different winning combination of the reels offering the higher value prize.
