Re: NEW EBAY SCAM..at least new to me.

Look at the link when you move the mouse pointer over it, it should be some foreign address, faked to look like eBay, or sometimes they don't even try, and it's some strange named server.

Never got that one, except about ten years ago, when it was probably real? grin

For anyone else reading this... NEVER click on a link in an email from PayPal or eBay, that says your account was suspended, that you just won an auction and the seller demands payment (when you didn't bid on anything like that), that you just sold something (that you didn't sell) Etc.

The link in the message will lead to some site that has the look of the real site and when you log in, it saves your name and password for the crooks.

Go to your eBay or PayPal account from your own links and see if there is any activity.

Every personal message from eBay is now sent to a private mailbox on eBay. If they really sent it, you'll find a copy there.

What you included is a primary tip off, the real name is not always listed in phishing messages. eBay and PayPal will always say Dear "real name", spoofs and people trying to steal account will either be generic or use just the ID or email address name.

I usually send them a notice, unless I'm bored or in a hurry. Forward the message to whichever applies, spoof@ebay.com or spoof@paypal.com and they will write a nice thank you note saying they are investigating, and it usually says "this was a phishing message" and describe what that means.
