Some people consider a chip obsolete only when it can not be redeemed... By that definition, AC chips are never obsolete. Some people consider chips obsolete when they are not used on the tables anymore (though they can still be redeemed/bought from the cage). Some people consider chips obsolete when the casino closes. Some people consider LE chips obsolete, as they are no longer made...that's stretching it a bit, IMHO.
