John; Did you read the link below titled; "Sports Betting IN NJ"? It was made very clear to NJ officials by the feds that they only had until January 1, 1994 to make the change or the window on Sports Betting in A.C. would be closed on them forever. It's a lost opportunity that NJ elected officials were asleep at the switch ... or too busy campaigning to get re-elected ... and the state lost out.

"While Nevada's legislators embraced sports betting, New Jersey's did not. The state was given until New Year's Day of 1994 to pass a new law permitting sports betting. Tragically legislators failed to get it on the ballot before the deadline, due in part to the heated gubernatorial election of 1993. There is no way the Nevada politicians would support re-opening the window again.
