Ok fellow convention '08 piggy bank savers:Tammy,Dennis,Ron,Bill,Frank,Mike,Dawn....just a question on how the "vice giving upping" and savings are progressing?
All of our participants have cut back or given up spending vices and I am wondering how you are all doing?
For me....well....it has been tough giving up Starbucks and Coca Cola and poker mags,BUT....I have been fairly disciplined so far and estimate that I have saved over $400 so far for next year's convention and there are still about 200 days to go till the grand pig opening on June 4th,and if all goes well,that should bring in another $1,000 for me and who knows how much for Dawn. That should enable us to buy some cool chips in June!
If I was a handicapper,I would say that George Buckner's guess at $1633 will be fairly close as well as Craig Duke at $1650, and Phyllis Spagnola at $1711.
Only 1 trip to Starbucks for me in a two month's now and one poker mag since the contest began.Not easy but am amazed at how much I have saved by not buying this crap.
eBay sales will start for me soon and I hope to put a few more dollars away before the January/February trip. Don't know if I will be able to save much while in Vegas for that month because what is the point of going if not to spend?
Our two lowest guesses are by Jim Follis at $650.00 followed by Tony Tricoli at $1177.
I will be heading to Vancouver next month to pick up chips from the new Starlight Casino to show you exactly what your winning prizes will look like.
Remember...all participants who guessed how much Dawn Satter and I could save for the convention in 11 months are eligible for the grand prize of a $1.00 and $5.00 chip;as many roulettes as I can "harvest";AND a grand opening chip IF they do make one.
So...to my fellow savers....let both me and the board know how you are doing.Remember...you are in a separate contest for that buy in for the club poker tourney next year.
