Re: DiSq Mold Info & History Of Our Chips

Robert E's site, best info on the web for molds.
http://www.antiquegamblingchips.com/molddesignindex_site.htm

DIAMONDS AND SQUARES (DIASQR) -- diamond and square (hub), repeated 13 times. 1941-1960's; not used today, but chips were made for non-casino use until about 1990. This "diamond-square" mold was always owned by the manufacturer, the venerable Burt Co., and now by its successor, Atlantic Molding -- both of Portland, Maine. This mold has been distributed by Hunt & Co., Chicago; Code & Co., Chicago; Portland Card Co., Portland OR, which called it their "Diamond Square" check; Noll & Co., Pasadena CA; White's Club Room Equip., Cincinnati OH (advertising chips on this mold: "White's Super Checks") and Pioneer Club Supply, San Francisco CA. It is a good example of an "open mold" -- one sold by the manufacturer to many distributors, and, thus, is not "protected."

There are a few records for the DiSq mold in collectors hands. I do not have the record on the Seahorse chip.
The bulk of the diSq mold records are known to exist and a club member is trying to get them.

That said:
Here is a website with over 15,000 records on the old molds.
We are hopeful over 12,000 more will be made available to us soon.
We are hopeful over 3,000 others will be made available to us soon.
We are hopeful the rest of the EM O'Neils, believed to be 5-6,000, will be made available to us soon.
I have made an offer to purchase another old mold records. Hopefully it will be accepted.

David and I are in the process of donating this site to the CCGTCC Museum Fund. We have purchased several domain names for it including Preserving Gaming History.

Many Club members have contributed in putting these records together both in time and money.
Some of us are on a never ending search for the history of our chips. I am proud to say I am one of them.
I will make a guess, if all of our hopeful's come true, Club members will have over $50,000 of their private funds invested in obtaining and getting these records to the site.
