My thoughts on the club Mag

I have read the magazine cover to cover as I always do, and now have some thoughts on the issue-and since my physical therapist says I should type a bunch (helps exercise muscles in my arm) I will share them with you.

The officer reports were expectantly upbeat and positive, but the minutes seem to have one glaring problem…I appear as argumentative, and we all know I am not at all argumentative. Besides I was still heavily medicated, weak, and just happy to be alive. So I presume Belinda confused me with someone else (easy to do) or failed to capture the eloquence of whatever contributions I did make.

Sergeant at Arms? Hmmm. I can see myself regressing back to my days as a bouncer in Indy where I carried an ax handle and a .38. Admittedly, I was mobile and at 6’5”and about 320#, I was much more intimidating than the loveable teddy bear I have aged into. I wonder if those are the qualifications Mike is talking about?

Pam’s article on the early strip was wonderful. She (and Brian) were well deserved winners of the best article award, and you got to put them in the race again this year.

Jim Steffner wrote a wonderful overview of the convention, I especially enjoyed it since I missed so much of it. But how is my fall not a highlight? OK highlight may be the wrong word, but I bet if I had fallen up the shaft it would have made the list. I want to Thank Jim on all the great work he has done (again). I was also thrilled to see my buddies Scott and Sandy in the pics.

I saw the call for volunteers by Bob Bickford, I am willing to volunteer again. I realize I missed a shift last August, but I have an excuse, and I did make it for the Sat shift. I would encourage all of you to volunteer-it is great fun, and helps make you feel part of the success of this great club.

I only got to enjoy one of the seminars (the newbie event). I would like to see that event be more of a how to, but it is impossible to not be entertained, and informed when listening to Doug Saito. I missed he blackjack/poker tournaments, so anybody with an extra set who would like to trade for 04, 05, or 06, let me know. I would have beat Sheldon out of some cash if I had played, so I will have to wait till June for that.

Sheldon made a suggestion that I have heard before, changing the club name. I always refer to it as simply the ‘club’, but there are grounds to consider his suggestion (reasonably and rationally), but I don’t care for the CCC suggestion. If we did change the name, what would be a good name?

As always, the mag was a joy to receive.
