I don't know where you live in Houston, but here's an idea that might save you some time at the P.O. Are you anywhere near one of the universities? If so, you might see if you can find their campus post office. There is never a line at the one at my university and it is open to everyone, not just university affiliated folks. Few people outside the university know about it.
