My own experience is that I was winning consistently on Poker Stars and a friend told me to get a program called Poker Tracker. A few days after installing this program I began getting a lot of hands beat and I stopped winning. I will never forget getting suspicious when I raised the pot with AA in a limit game and got called by 3-9 off suit. The flop was 3-3 X as I don't remember the other card. Now being called and beat by this hand will happen on rare occasion but the strange thing is that he folded the next six hands and none of them was raised.

A few months later of breaking about even I received an email from Party Poker stating that if I had any programs that rated other players there was a possibility that a third party could see my hole cards. They said that they would no longer allow any programs that rated players and mentioned Poker Tracker as one of them.

A few weeks after this a friend told me that someone was selling this program on eBay for $15. On this program you could see your opponent’s hole cards and the flop. I knew at the time that the program would no longer work but I would have proof that there was such a program for those who doubted it existed. The seller said he would send it out as soon as I left him positive feedback which I wouldn't do and I never received the program.

Apparently they or others have done similar programs on Absolute Poker and probably other sites. Not only does one have to worry about such programs but also teams of cheaters would play together online. There are those who readily admit to teams and those who promote it by selling "Others do it, you might as well do it also". It is very easy to sit in a room with 4 or 5 other players on different computers and in the same game where you can see each other hole cards. Believe me this goes on.

I went back to live action in the casinos as I can no longer win online and although the rake is higher and the games seem like playing in slow motion you know that there is only a very slight chance of being cheated.

About the only time I play online anymore is in the Wednesday night tournament which is enjoyable and you know you can trust the players.
